Divetech Marine performed underwater hull cleaning and propeller polishing for FPSO JOHN AGYEKUM KUFUOR

FPSO JOHN AGYEKUM KUFUOR with an LOA 333m, was docked at Singapore Keppel Shipyard for approximately 2 years, for her conversion into a Floating Production Storage and Offloading or FPSO as commonly termed. A FPSO is a floating vessel used by the offshore oil and gas industry for the production and processing of hydrocarbons, and for the storage of oil.

FPSO JOHN AGYEKUM KUFUOR will be chartered by ENI Ghana Exploration & Production Limited (ENI Ghana) to process oil and gas from the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) block. In preparation for her maiden voyage to Offshore Ghana and final delivery to her owners, underwater hull cleaning and propeller polishing were ordered.

On each day of the operations, Divetech Marine carried out thorough safety and toolbox meetings together with the vessel’s captain, chief engineer and involved representative from Yinson Production to clarify the dive plan and scope of work for the day at Singapore Changi General Purpose Anchorage.

The said vessel’s shell plating was found to be 90% fouled with acorn barnacles, tubes worms, sea algae, slime and sponges. Propeller was found to be 100% fouled with various types of marine growth, including acorn barnacles, tubes worms, slime and more. The formation of such fouling can be attributed to the vessel’s lengthy stay at the dock where she remained in a stationary position.

In order to expedite the diving operation, Divetech Marine mobilised additional diving vessels and teams to carry out simultaneous cleaning of the vessel from both port and starboard sides. In addition to the hull cleaning and propeller polishing, divers also inspected I-beams over riser end cap. on port and starboard side. All these works were fully completed in 2 day light hours.

With a complete suite of air and hydraulic systems on board, hull cleaning machines, polishers, other necessary diving equipment as well as well-trained and committed dive teams, Divetech Marine delivers results.

The FPSO JOHN AGYEKUM KUFUOR was ready for delivery to her owners and the tall order awaiting her in the Offshore Ghana.

Divetech Marine would like to thank the team from Yinson Production and all parties who have in one way or another assisted us and made this operation possible.
